Theme song: Favorite Things (what else?)
I have a complimentary post on my business blog, Five of My Favorite (Biz) Things, so you can check that out, too. Both were inspired by an app I tried today called unroll.me. So exciting to simply get rid of 100+ subscriptions in one five minute hack job. Technology caused the problem, and technology solved it.
Ready for a little kookiness, Anna style? Okay, here go five of my favorite pleasure things:
- Completed tasks. I really enjoy "ticking things off the list." I really like completing things. I like tidy solutions. I like slipping documents into file folders (once I even had a dream in which I simply opened a file drawer and dropped in a single sheet of paper. Ahhh.). Part of this pleasure, of course, comes from contrast. If my whole life were that orderly, I would probably go crazy. Which brings me to favorite pleasure thing #2.
- Drama. This is probably really not good, but I love a little drama. An image of perfectly white, orderly living room and me in a white dress, but everything spattered in bright red blood just popped into my mind. I'm sure I wouldn't like the back story, but the picture in my head looks pretty good (Next you'll say that just because something is true doesn't mean you have to say it, and you'll be right. Yes you will). That's drama, baby.
- Cats in the sun. I really like watching cats sun bathe and then bothering them. Why? It must be because I'm jealous. Can you imagine what your life would be like if all you had to do was choose between sun bathing and paw cleaning and you actually liked it?
- Lafayette Park. For one thing, it's near my house. For another thing, it helps me exercise. Third, it's elegant, especially with its recent remodel. Fourth, it's a nice place to play with Laura and the kids. And the neighbors were smart enough to just say no to native California grass. I'm sorry, but Alta Plaza, heretofore elegant, looks like something the cat dragged in.
- Reading. It's a drug. The best drug.
What weird and not weird things do you like? Chances are, unless it's Cherry Garcia ice cream, I like it, too!
