Approximately 2 Billion Seconds Left to Live

Theme song: Noise in Your Eye

Friends, time is ticking.

Since I found out I have about 2 billion seconds left to live, I started to wonder what else comes in 2 billion unit increments besides the rest of my life.

Here is a sample of those things:

  • People under twenty. Apparently there are about 2 billion people under the age of 20--about one per each second of my life. Question: Does this number strike you as high or low?
  • The amount of British pounds spent per week by the government on health care. Being American, we have no idea what a pound is worth (Americans are like that, you know). Still, it sounds hefty. Of course, it's not as hefty as the amount the US spends per week. Question: If you were in charge of the budget, how would you spend the money?
  • The name of a band. Not exactly my thing, but interesting nonetheless. I like name of the album: The Nostalgia Gap. Question: Can a name in this case be an increment?
  • The amount of views Gangnam Style had by June 16, 2014. Hmmm. Question: Who has the second highest number of YouTube views?
  • The amount of years certain deep sea micro-organisms remain unchanged. I guess some things don't change. Question: Would Darwin smile?

Well, that's it for now.

I don't know about you, but I like connecting unrelated facts.
